It’s personally my favourite opening, both for the crazy guitar but also for the bass.
HARUKA KANATA BASS COVER SERIES
I remember hearing this song for the first time while watching the series and I was obsessed with it. It’s really fun and there’s a few slides and bends in there just for you. The bass certainly stands out and makes this song top level. The very first opening of this classic band anime. The bass goes hard throughout with many funky riffs and I love it for that. When I thought about making this list, this was the very first song I thought of. There’s a whole lot of slides if that’s something you’ve been meaning to work on! Kyouran Hey Kids Noragami – The Oral Cigarettes It actually has a lot of riffs and a lot for you to work on. The bass for this song starts off pretty basic, but keep watching. On Your New Journey Bang Dream – Poppin Party!
While it is mostly octave riffs, I’m sure it’s still more fun to play than a single rhythm.
And by that, I mean there are 4 bass parts to choose from. Out of all the instruments, it’s definitely doing the heavy lifting for the groove of the song. You’re bound to have fun with this one! Melissa Fullmetal Alchemist – Porno GraffitiĪnother song that likes to have fun from the beginning. I don’t know if anyone could hate this song cause it’s just so good. So if you’re a bassist looking for something fun and perhaps challenging instead of playing 4 notes throughout, here’s some songs you may like! Haruka Kanata Naruto – Asian Kung-Fu Generationįrom the very top til the very end, this bassline is quite funky. Me in 2015 in my first band at our only band rehearsal….I know my form is horrible, I was the keyboardist then LOL Songs like Kyouran Hey Kids, and in indie groups like Frederic and Polkadot Stingray, bass has it’s chance to shine since guitars take more of a passive role with riffs and extended chords, as opposed to distorted power chords and heavy guitar solos. However, Japanese music has certainly shown me what amazing things bass can do, and it’s not rare for me to find myself listening and grooving more to the bass than the other instruments. I did try bass temporarily years before ever picking up guitar, but I couldn’t hear it without an amp, and found it confusing when alongside guitars. Thankfully, with Youtubers like Davie504, more people have come to appreciate the instrument, myself included.
You may not notice them when they’re there, but you’ll definitely notice them when they’re gone. THE BASSSSSSSS! Bassists are often neglected and made fun of in a band, but they are one of the most, if not THE most, essential instruments in a group.
